Ray gives us the lowdown on the steps to singularity, its all based on six epochs. Anyway once we get to Epoch 5 we’re there already; this is when technology is reinventing itself and the merger of tech and human intelligence (he’s presuming that humachines will be holding us in reverence – well at least the enhanced humans ?) sweet!
However ….

Ted Modis, indicates instead a gradual decline in technological novelty. Here`s an interesting article he has written on the history of complexity in the universe
According to both these guys then, the transhumanists and singularitans have got it wrong.
On the flip side, John Smart gives a well-argued response to Huebner in favour of the exponential paradigm

All in all, both sides of the argument make for interesting reading.
